What’s Bruin Show, Episode 65 – UCLA Football News, World Domination and an Epic Lakers Rant

In Episode 65 of the What’s Bruin Show, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I continue to find ways to talk about UCLA football! We start the show with a discussion about the Bruins maybe needing to power up on offense. We then talk about several Bruins being recognized in the preseason for their talents as they were named to several award watch lists.

We then take a second to recognize something that has affected the UCLA football community, especially from the recruiting perspective as we discuss Scout.com‘s National Director of Recruiting Brandon Huffman and the unfortunate incident surrounding his daughter Avery Huffman who has inoperable brain cancer. Check out Go Joe Bruin writer Michael Hanna‘s piece on the Huffmans for information on how you can help out.

We then switch gears to away from football as several Bruins participated all over the world in tournaments that brought home gold for several teams… IT IS WORLD DOMINATION, BRUIN STYLE! There were Bruins winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the World Cup of Softball and the U19 World Basketball Championship. All of it which occurred on 4th of July weekend… USA! USA! USA!

During the ‘LA Sports Express’, Jake finishes up with an epic rant about the Los Angeles Lakers and their free agency situation. We then finish up with a good laugh about the Los Angeles Clippers and DeAndre Jordan (although it now seems the joke is on us).
