UCLA Football Rises In Recruiting Class Rankings

The UCLA Football team nabbed two commitments on Monday which has them on the rise in a few recruiting sites.

Today, Scout.com has updated their latest recruiting rankings and UCLA is now #13 on their current list after landing 4-star QB Devon Modster and 3-star DL Jake Burton.

The commitment from Modster is one of the biggest in UCLA’s 2016 class. Modster had originally committed to Arizona, but reconsidered over the Christmas break. UCLA had stuck with the Las Flores, CA product throughout the entire process, despite his commitment to the Wildcats.

After opening up his commitment, Modster was assumed to be leaning towards UCLA and scheduled his official visit for this past weekend.

When Modster’s inks his signature on National Signing Day, UCLA Football will have another scholarship quarterback behind Josh Rosen. Modster is also the second QB the Bruins will have as Matt Lynch has been committed to UCLA since May 2015.

The Bruins also took another commit from Arizona as defensive linemen Jake Burton pledged his allegiance to UCLA late Monday night, flipping from the Wildcats. He is the fifth defensive lineman to commit to UCLA’s 2016 class.

With these two commitments, the Bruins are now pushing the top 10 of the 2016 Scout.com recruiting class rankings and are now the highest ranked Pac-12 school in front of Stanford, USC and Oregon which are #16, #17 and #18 respectively.

The Bruins also have a good position with Rivals who have them at #10. In those rankings, UCLA is ahead of such schools as Michigan State, Alabama and Auburn as well as the three aforementioned Pac-12 schools.

If the Bruins can land a few key commits on NSD such as Mique Juarez, Devin Asiasi, Jack Jones and/or Boss Tagaloa, then expect them to continue to climb the rankings, possibly for a Top 5 finish.
