UCLA Football: Jim Mora To The NFL Is A Real Possibility

Rumors have arisen that UCLA Football Head Coach Jim Mora could be leaving for the NFL, but how real is this chatter?

I recently wrote a piece titled, No Thanks Chip Kelly… We’ll Be Fine With Jim Mora, and now it seems that I might have to write a rebuttal. At the very least, I have to acknowledge that I might have jumped the gun a little bit. So Chip Kelly, come on down?

The reason I write this now is because rumors have surfaced about Jim Mora that looked like more of a reality.

Yesterday, Tracy Pierson of Bruin Report Online wrote a piece on the chances of Mora leaving for the NFL. Chatter also arose this week about the possibility of changes happening to the UCLA coaching staff which we could hear about as early as Monday.

Well that still looks to be true, although the coach in question now is Mora.

I wrote last week that the Mora-to-NFL talks had once again started up with Mora possibly looking to the San Diego Chargers (if they fire their current coach, Mike McCoy), especially if they manage to relocate to Los Angeles. Ever since coming to the Southland four years ago, Mora has dug his roots into LA, specifically with his family, so to be able to stay close to Los Angeles would be ideal for him.

Pierson also points out that the Miami Dolphins have high interest in Mora and is one of three potential candidates for the head coaching position and as Pierson stated in his article, “Mora could very well be the leader among the three.”

In addition to that, Pierson claims that the head coach position for the New Orleans Saints may soon be vacant which would be a third possible destination for Mora.

Either way, as Pierson puts it, “there is a real possibility that Jim Mora could be leaving UCLA.”
