With the new season quickly approaching, it looks as if the tentative start date to the UCLA football’s fall camp will be on Thursday, August 1.

On Monday, UCLA Associate Athletic Director Josh Rebholz announced in a tweet that UCLA football fall camp would begin in “37 days”. That roughly puts the start of camp on Thursday, August 1, exactly four weeks before the beginning of the season.

It was estimated that this year, the Bruins would have to start camp a few days early as their season has been moved up two days. Originally, UCLA was supposed to play at Cincinnati on Saturday, August 31, but that game has since been moved to Thursday, August 29 at 4 p.m. PT.

With the season being moved up a few days, that would require an earlier start for fall camp, which means that an August 1 start date would make sense.

The schedule for fall camp is yet to be released, but if last season was any indication, this year’s camp would include 25 individual practices before the start of the season.

Media and fan availability should remain the same as the media will get approximately 20 minutes to view practice at the start of each day as well as have a chance to talk to head coach Chip Kelly and his players. The practices will most likely not be open to the public.

This year, the Bruins will be looking to improve off of their 3-9 record from 2018. With Kelly making a complete change in culture the Bruins had a slow start heading into last season, but slowly improved as the season went on. That will change this year as Kelly has a better handle on the program including the roster as he has started to bring in his type of players to help execute his vision.

The chance to get things going on the right foot begins with the start of fall camp, which is now apparently 36 days away. Go Bruins!
