The 6’3, 235-pound Jackson is the fifth player to commit to 2020 behind 4-star QB Parker McQuarrie, 3-star DE Jay Max Jacobsen, S Jake Newman, and ILB Jeremiah Trojan. With the commitment of Jackson, UCLA moves up one spot to 9th in the Pac-12 conference recruiting class rankings.

Per Bruin Report Online, Jackson was targeted by the UCLA coaching staff during the spring evaluation period. His commitment fills two needs as it brings in another linebacker for depth in that group and gives the defense another potential edge rusher.
Jackson has experience playing both inside and outside in the linebacker spot, giving him a lot of experience in different parts of the field. The one thing that is consistent, no matter where he is in the field, is the fact that he aggressively pursues the ball carrier and will physically push people out of the way to get to them. He may not be the quickest defender, but his vision allows him to spot where the ball is going and attack.
Jackson is also quite powerful and can push the blockers back or swim/push around them if needed. He is also a big hitter and can drop his opposition on contact. He also has the know-how to hold onto a ball carrier and wrapping them up to ensure that no further yardage is gained.
This adds to his very aggressive style of play, which is something that will fit in with UCLA’s defensive philosophy. Last season, the Bruins improved in run defense from the previous season but gave up a lot through the air. That was primarily due to a lack of a pass rush. With UCLA bringing in more players like Jackson, this will give them a chance to try out a handful of players in the coming seasons.
