We have a special double episode for you as we recorded our Crosstown Podcast with Reign of Troy and talked to L.A. Times Reporter Ben Bolch about UCLA football and basketball.

It is that time of the year! That’s right, Rivalry Week! This Saturday, the UCLA football team will participate in the annual Crosstown Showdown with USC and to prep for the big game, we were able to record two big episodes just for you!

We start things off with our freinds from Reign of Troy, the FanSided USC site. Alicia de Artola and Michael Castillo chat with us about what we should expect in this game between the Bruins and the Trojans.

More from Go Joe Bruin

It has been an interesting season for both L.A. schools as the UCLA Bruins (2-8, 2-5) have struggled in Chip Kelly’s first season and the USC Trojans (5-5, 4-4) have underwhelmed in what could be Clay Helton’s last (depending on which USC fans you talk to).

We dive into what could be a very sloppy and mistake-riddled contest between the two teams. Though both fanbases (at least a good portion of each) are a little apathetic towards their squads, once the blues and the reds get on the field, it is all business.

In our second episode, my guest co-hosts Jamaal Artis and Jim Bendat help to lead a discussion about anything and everything Bruins sports as we welcome the L.A Times’ UCLA beat writer, Ben Bolch to discuss his new book, 100 Things UCLA Fans Should Know Before They Die.

We discuss how Bolch was apparoached to write the book, how he came about arranging it, some of his favorite tidbits he learned in his research, and how he was only able to pick 100 things despite that illustrious history of UCLA Athletics.

We also get to talking about UCLA basketball as they start their season (and why Bolch gets exhausted this time of year) and our favorite UCLA-USC memories.
