In episode 175 of the ‘What’s Bruin Show’, we once again engage with the UCLA B Team podcast for our annual Crossover Pod to talk about UCLA football. We also have a special guest as author Spencer Stueve joins in on the conversation.

In this episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I welcome one of the three members of the UCLA B Team podcast, Michael Hanna, to join in on the UCLA football conversation as the 2018 season fast approaches.

Along with Hanna, we welcome the author of the UCLA Football Encyclopedia, Spencer Stueve. The five of us get together for the first part of this double episode with the UCLA B Team. In Part 1, it is all UCLA football talk. In Part 2 (which the B Team will be hosting), Hanna goes in depth in an interview with Stueve about his book which is in its second edition.

More from Go Joe Bruin

We start things off in Part 1 with a look at Go Joe Bruin headlines as we talk about some notable football developments in fall camp.

After that, we talk about two former UCLA Women’s Basketball players, Jordin Canada and Monique Billings, who have helped their respective WNBA teams make the playoffs. in fact, both of their teams were the first to qualify for the WNBA post-season.

Though we are getting into football season, there has been a little bit of basketball news as the men’s team has released their non-conference schedule for the upcoming season and we quickly discuss what UCLA will come across.

We then get into the thick of things with UCLA football. With fall camp being closed to the public and media (with the exception of 20 minutes each practice), there is not a lot of news coming out. Still, there is enough information being released to help us piece together what will happen with the Bruins this fall.

The five of us talk about what we have heard with the QB competition, the RB battle and the shuffling along the offensive line. When it comes to the defense, we all agree on what players we could see starting on September 1.
