The UCLA basketball women’s team received a huge commitment for the 2019 recruiting class as 5-star point guard Jaden Owens is bringing her talents to Westwood.
How can one tweet ignite a fanbase? Easily. Especially when it comes from the no. 3 point guard in the nation giving her commitment to the 2019 UCLA basketball recruiting class. It even had quite the “explosive” video to go along with it.

UCLA head coach Cori Close landed a huge commitment from point guard Jaden Owens (Plano West/Plano, TX) who selected the Bruins over the likes of Baylor, Texas, Mississippi, Ohio State and Louisville. She is also the first commit to the 2019 recruiting class.
According to ESPN/HoopGurlz, Owens is the 16th best player in the nation, which has earned her a 5-star rating and there is no question as to why.

The first thing you notice about Owens is that she is fast. Her ability to push the ball up the court is going to help UCLA continue to play uptempo, something they did flawlessly under last season’s point guard, Jordin Canada.
At 5’7, Owens is small, but she is fearless. She has no problem driving the lane in traffic and making contact with the defense. But if needed, she knows when to square up for a mid-range to three-point shot. But that is just the beginning.
Owens has excellent vision and can find the open woman anywhere on the court. She even has the knack for firing the ball down court for an outlet pass. She also has amazing handles and can break ankles, allowing her to blow past her defenders. Simply, she is a superstar in the making.
It cannot be overstated how talented the Bruins’ latest commitment is. She is not only going to keep UCLA playing at a high level, but could pick up where Canada left off.
