UCLA football head coach Chip Kelly has sent out his first offer to a quarterback as San Bernardino product, 2019 4-star dual-threat QB Jayden Daniels, has caught his eye of the Bruins’ head man.

Chip Kelly is taking his time to rebuild the UCLA football program and during his first signing day, he showed that he will not simply go after highly-rated players, but instead, focus on players that could help execute his system.

We saw the Bruins land some top talent at the running back, offensive line and secondary positions, to name a few, but there was no quarterback in the mix, until now.

Last week, Kelly sent out his very first offer to a quarterback since taking over at UCLA. That went to 4-star QB Jayden Daniels (Cajon/San Bernardino, CA), the top dual-threat quarterback in the nation.

It was expected that Kelly would be on the look out for a signal caller of his skill set as the coach is looking to implement a run-based spread offense, which Daniels fits perfectly.

Last season, Daniels threw for 5,139 yards and 62 touchdowns. He also added 1,292 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Daniels has a quick release, a strong arm and Rosen-esque accuracy. He also has good footwork, quick feet, excellent decision making skills and is incredibly elusive. At 6’3, 170 lbs., he has the height to look over the line, but could do with a few more pounds, especially since he will be putting himself out there against college-level defenses.

One other thing he is going to need to improve is looking for the second and third passing options as he likes to look for the quick pass, but that is something he will learn and grow with in Kelly’s system.

Daniels has been offered by the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia and Florida State, but

according to 247Sports.com

, there is an 80% chance he chooses UCLA.

Currently, UCLA looks to have at least five players in the QB competition this fall: Devon Modster (Jr-R), Matt Lynch (Jr-R), Austin Burton (So-R), Wilton Speight (grad transfer) and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (Fr). Though the QB depth is a bit crowded, Kelly has to continue to focus on the future. Daniels is a good place to start.
