After getting drafted 10th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft, former UCLA football standout Josh Rosen had a lot to say to his critics and to those that overlooked him.

It is a good thing former UCLA football player Josh Rosen doesn’t speak his mind or he would been one very uninteresting athlete. Never questions authority, never fights for what he believes and never ruffles the feathers. Wait, hang on… did I write “Josh Rosen”? Well then, in that case, it is actually quite the opposite.

Rosen, who has been known to openly talk about the things he feels passionately about (when he is allowed to let talk, I’m looking at you Jim Mora) let a few NFL teams and his critics know exactly what was on his mind shortly after he was drafted 10th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

"Maybe if I shut up these last three years, I could’ve been picked higher, but I don’t want that, I want to be me."

“The Chosen One” had some chosen words for those that overlooked him in the first round of the draft on Thursday night. After being the fourth quarterback to be taken in the first ten picks of the draft (which is the first time in history that has happened), Rosen said that the teams that did not select him made a mistake, “They made nine mistakes ahead of me, and I couldn’t be more excited to prove them all wrong.”

More from Go Joe Bruin

The former Bruin, who was heralded as the most “NFL ready” QB in the draft had to wait to hear his name called after Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield (1st overall to the Cleveland Browns), USC’s Sam Darnold (3rd overall to the New York Jets) and Wyoming’s Josh Allen (7th overall to the Buffalo Bills). With that in mind and a chip on his shoulder, Rosen decided to let loose.

“I was angry. I was really angry. One, two and three went through, and I was really pissed off. But for some reason, the second I got that call, all of that went away and motivation stepped in.”

After finally hearing his name called, Rosen stepped onto the stage at AT&T Stadium where the 2018 NFL Draft was being held. He put on his red Arizona cap, shook hands with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and then proceeded to voice his thoughts during his on-stage interview with ESPN, “I’m more motivated than I’ve ever been in my entire life. I just want to get into the hunt and win Super Bowls.”

It might sound brash, but he is dead serious.

For those that followed him at UCLA the last three years know that he is all business. Unfortunately, those that have not followed him as closely have said everything they could to knock the former Bruin. “He has an attitude.” “He rubs people the wrong way.” “He has injury/durability issues.” “He is not dedicated to the game.”

For a player that endured a season ending shoulder injury two seasons ago (because three Sun Devils drove him into the ground, not because he has chronic injuries) and two concussions (due to lack of blocking), he seemed to show a lot of dedication to the game and his Bruins, especially when he bled after taking a hit during a late season game last year.

If that isn’t dedication, then I don’t know what is.

So now he is onto the next chapter of his life, heading to Arizona to try and help lead the Cardinals to a championship, but he has work to do. His new team is in the same division as the up-and-coming Los Angeles Rams, so if he is going to win some hardware, he is going to have to dig deeper than he ever has before, but honestly, it is something he looks forward to.
