The UCLA football program landed their third commitment this week as 3-star defensive back Elsiha Guidry is heading to Westwood.
Continuing to bolster its defensive secondary for the upcoming 2018 campaign, the UCLA football program has received a verbal commitment from Elisha Guidry, a highly-touted cornerback from Murrieta, CA.

“I want to thank God for making me who I am and giving me the gifts that he’s given me,” announced Guidry in a tweet that he posted on Sunday morning. “I also want to thank my family, friends, former teachers, teammates, classmates, and coaches who have helped me become the young man I am today. After much prayer and talking with my family, I have decided to continue my education and football career at the University of California at Los Angeles. Thank you to all the coaches who have recruited me, but I have found my home in Westwood.”
Guidry’s verbal commitment comes on the heels of his official visit to UCLA which took place over the weekend.
The 6-1, 177 lbs. defensive back earned a three-star ranking on 247Sports after crafting an impressive prep resume at Murrieta Vista High School where he recorded 103 tackles, broke up 31 passes, tallied three interceptions, made a solo tackle for loss, and a recovered one fumble.

Notably, Guidry is no stranger to Westwood as his parents, Javelin and Kaishauna, both attended UCLA in the 90’s. According to Thuc Nhi Ngyuyen in an article published for the Daily News, “Javelin [Elisha’s father] played at UCLA from 1994 to 1997 and had four career interceptions, and Guidry’s uncle, Paul, also played for the Bruins from 1993 to 1996. Guidry’s older brother, also named Javelin, is a defensive back at Utah.” The Bruins are slated to host Utah on Friday, October 26 at the Rose Bowl.
Guidry’s addition bodes well for the future of the Bruins’ defense as Chip Kelly and his staff are already set to welcome an arsenal of talent featuring four-star safety Stephan Bayock, three-star safety Kenny Churchwell, and three-star safety Patrick Jolly.
Heading into National Signing Day (February 7), the Bruins currently have 17 verbal commitments and are ranked 19th on 247Sports’ most recent 2018 Football Recruiting Composite Team Ranking list.
