The UCLA Football team announced today that they have scheduled a home-and-home series with the Wisconsin Badgers, 12 years from now.
Since UCLA Football Head Coach Jim Mora has taken over the program, he has not been afraid to put his team up against the best and schedule marquee games (whether they win those games is another story). This season, they finish up a home-and-home series with the Texas A&M Aggies who come to the Rose Bowl this year.

Next season, the Bruins start a series with Oklahoma as UCLA heads to Norman in 2018 and back to Pasadena in 2019. In 2021, LSU visits the Rose Bowl, though the Bruins do not visit the Bayou until 2024. In between that time, UCLA plays a series with Michigan. And starting in 2025, the Bruins and Georgia Bulldogs do battle.

Today, the Bruins added another traditional college football powerhouse as the Bruins and Wisconsin Badgers are set to do battle. Here is the awkward part… the series does not begin until 2029.
Clear your calendars in 12 and 13 years because UCLA-Wisconsin will first take place at the Rose Bowl in 2029 and finish up in Madison in 2030. Though things will be completely different for both teams by the time they meet, this is a bold matchup. One that brings emotion.
Many of you may remember one of the last times UCLA and Wisconsin met. The year was 1999 and the Bruins and Badgers were meeting in the Rose Bowl Game, the last for UCLA. The Bruins were relegated to this Bowl after losing the last game of the season to Miami (a game that was rescheduled from earlier in the season due to a hurricane).
The Bruins were the #2 team in the nation and it was projected that if UCLA won that contest against Miami, they would head to the National Championship Game. The Bruins lost and were 10-1 heading into the Rose Bowl Game. UCLA then lost to Wisconsin in a heartbreaker, 38-31. Though none of that matters anymore, it is probably not a good idea to bring up that season to most UCLA Football fans.
Both teams met again the next season in the 2000 Sun Bowl. Wisconsin won that game as well.

Still, this is a great matchup for both teams, one that should get national coverage. It will be the 12th time both programs meet. UCLA controls the series, 7-4, though the Badgers have won the last three contests.
