UCLA Football Recruiting: 3-Star Safety Chris Wilson Commits to the Bruins
After a rough week on the recruiting trail, the UCLA Football team got a huge commitment from 3-star defensive back Chris Wilson. BOOM!
The UCLA Football team had lost two commits in the past week, but things are not so bad for the Bruins on the recruiting trail. Today, 3-star safety Chris Wilson (Hitchcock HS/Hitchcock, TX) gave his pledge to the Bruins as he became the fourth player to commit to the 2017 class.

At 6’1″, 187 lbs., Wilson is a strong bodied, aggressive defender. He has good field vision, has great positioning and can deliver big hits. Wilson is a very smart player and knows exactly where to be whether he is trying to break up a pass, spy a potential interception or take out the opposition.
Wilson is also a threat in the open field or in one-on-one situations as he is fantastic at targeting his opponents and does not get easily juked.

UCLA has done very well recruiting and developing defensive backs in the Jim Mora era. Last season, the Bruins were the best pass defense team in the Pac-12 Conference and look to continue that in 2016 as they have a very deep and talented roster.
A lot of that has to do with the mind of UCLA Defensive Backs Coach Demetrice Martin, who recruited Wilson. With the talents Wilson has, Martin could potentially make him a starter for the Bruins in a few years and that would be a very good thing for UCLA.
Though recruiting has taken a hit recently, Wilson makes a great addition to the 2017 class. He joins OT Ronald Rudd III, OT Kanan Ray and a player that recently said he is “1000% committed” to the Bruins, the #1 DE in the country, Jaelan Phillips.
National Signing Day may be six months away, but as Phillips stated, it should be something special.
