The UCLA Football team picks up their fourth commitment for the 2017 class as 3-star defensive back Jeffrey Manning Jr. commits to the Bruins.

The UCLA Football defensive backfield just got a bit deeper as Jeffrey Manning, Jr. (Cathedral HS/Los Angeles, CA) gave his pledge to play for the Bruins last night.

UCLA DB Coach Demetrice Martin had offered Manning just this past weekend and was expected to commit as he declared that UCLA was his “dream school”. Well that commitment came sooner than later as Manning looks to be ready to put on that blue and gold now.

UCLA has an excellent athlete on their hands as Manning is a two-way player that has experience as a receiver, but will be bringing his talents to Westwood as a cornerback. On the defensive side of the ball, he has good positioning and does a decent job tracking down players in the open field. He is a strong DB that does very well seeking out opposing receivers and can often hit hard to deliver the boom.

This is a good pickup for the Bruins as they have been in a bit of a lull with recruiting lately. Last week the Bruins missed out on two recruits that eventually decided on crosstown rival USC. Before that, two players decommited from the program as Rhedi Short and Rahyme Johnson decided to open up their recruitment.

Manning’s commitment makes it the fourth for the Bruin’s 2017 class. UCLA already has commitments from DE

Jaelan Phillips

, OT

Kanan Ray

and DE

Hunter Echols
