Go Joe Bruin Predicts The Game – Colorado Buffaloes vs UCLA Bruins

It is Game 8 for the UCLA Bruins as they welcome the Colorado Buffaloes to the Rose Bowl and try to become bowl eligible, which means it is time for Go Joe Bruin to predict the game!

If this team is at all what we want to think it is, this should be a get well game. Questionable guys like Paul Perkins and Deon Hollins sit. The newly starting replacement guys get valuable game time experience. Colorado scores once in the first half and again in garbage time.

UCLA shouldn’t have too much trouble with a scrappy but largely undermanned Colorado team that barely edged past Oregon State a week ago. The Buffs might be able to sustain a rushing attack against the Bruins, but as long as the Bruins win the field position battle and limit turnovers, their talent should simply overwhelm Colorado’s.

Colorado’s defense is not going to have any answer for the Bruins. They give up the most, or second most, big plays in the Pac-12. I think UCLA is going to have a lot of big, explosive plays against them.

UCLA turned things around last Thursday with a dominating victory over then #20 Cal, and now head into a matchup at home versus an underwhelming Colorado squad.

Even though the Buffaloes won last week at Oregon State, UCLA has an advantage in a lot of areas, even with another 3 injuries affecting the Bruins.

Look for the Bruins to have a good game against Colorado at the Rose Bowl and win their second straight game Saturday.

My main concern is Paul Perkins. If he is not 100% , he should probably be spared for Colorado as the Buffs have the worst run defense in the Pac-12. True freshman Bolu Olorunfunmi and Soso Jamabo should do a decent job filling in for Perkins.

But let’s not forget how well another true freshman is playing. Quarterback Josh Rosen just threw for 399 yards against Cal last week and is looking very sharp. Colorado’s pass defense is better than the run D, but they still won’t be able to match up against Rosen and his receivers, especially TE Thomas Duarte.

It will be interesting to see how the defense performs with all of their injuries, but if they continue to play as aggressive as they did against the Bears, they will be feasting on another Pac-12 opponent this weekend.
