In episode 207 of the What’s Bruin Show, we welcome back Los Angeles Times UCLA basketball and football beat writer, Ben Bolch.

In this latest episode, host Jake Merrifield, Bill Shirley and I will come back guest host Jamaal Artis as we get further into the hiring of Nick Cronin as the next UCLA basketball coach.

RELATED: What Cronin Should Focus on with Recruiting

It is been just over a week since Cronin was hired at UCLA and he has already hit the ground running. During the Go Joe Bruin headlines, we go through every step of the process.

More from Go Joe Bruin

One of the main concerns for Cronin is getting his staff together and it looks like he is starting off strong as his top assistant at Cincinnati, Darren Savino, is heading west to join his staff at UCLA. Savino is not only a solid coach but a great recruiter, and it comes to recruiting, it would also be in Cronin’s best interest to land another assistant with ties to the west coast and UCLA.

We also talk about the possibility of Moses Brown leaving. If true, we discuss why it would be in his best interests to stay at UCLA, but in the event he goes through with his exit, we look at a few possibilities to replace him in recruiting.

We then get into the heart of the podcast as Ben Bolch joins us to give his perception of the entire coaching search and tells us what he experienced from the first rumors of John Calipari to the actual introduction of Cronin. We then discuss what kind of impact Cronin has already had in his first week on the job and how he is already being perceived by the Bruin faithful.

And for those that are jonesing for UCLA football talk, Bolch gives us his takes on a few things going on in Spring Practice.
