What’s Bruin Show (203) – UCLA basketball postseason ends and begins
In episode 203 of the What’s Bruin Show, we discuss the end of the season for the UCLA basketball men’s team, the start of the women’s team in the NCAA Tournament and UCLA football notes from the first part of Spring Practice.
In this episode, hosts Jake Merrifled and I try to wrangle what almost got away from us because technology is often stupid. No worries though, we braved through the electronic chaos to bring you another stellar episode of WBS. And why is that? Because there is a lot going on with UCLA Athletics at the moment and we got into all of it!

We start the show off with Go Joe Bruin headlines as we take a deep dive into the big weekend of UCLA sports.

We start things off by talking about UCLA gymnastics and their “perfect” end to Valeria Kondos Field’s last meet at Pauley Pavilion. As expected, the Bruins dominated the meet as they got the win over Utah State, but it became more than that as it was a celebration of Miss Val’s career. But fear not, it is not over yet as UCLA still has the Pac-12 and NCAA meets to take part in, so there is still time with Miss Val.
We then get into UCLA baseball which is now the #1 team in the nation after a series win this past weekend over reigning national champions, Oregon State. The Bruins dominated in their 2-1 series win, which helped them reach the top of two different poles (it also helped that former #1 Vanderbilt lost their weekend series, 1-2).
The bats were not only flying for the baseball team as UCLA Softball got into the swing of things as they asserted their dominance in their 3-0 sweep of Washington up in Seattle to open up Pac-12 play. If you did not know, UCLA is now #1 in both baseball and softball.
It is also March Madness as basketball is winding down and the Big Dance is about to begin. The women’s UCLA basketball team know their path in the NCAA Tournament as they are a 6-seed. Though the Bruins have been riding some great momentum into the postseason, they have one hell of a difficult path in the tourney.
And what about men’s basketball? Well, they are not going anywhere as their season ended with a loss to Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals. With the season officially over, we take a look at the season that was in our postmortem.
And if that was not enough, we manage to squeeze in some UCLA football talk as we look at what the Bruins have achieved in the first part of Spring Practice.
Yeah, that is a lot of podcasting!
