The UCLA football team got their third win of the season by taking down rival USC. This game was all kinds of good!

In this edition of “The Good, The Bad and The Bruins”, the UCLA football team beat USC, 34-27, snapping a three-game losing streak to the Trojans.

This was by far the best win of the season, let’s find out why…

The Good

More from Go Joe Bruin

Offense: UCLA’s offense was outstanding, especially a certain running back which we will soon get into. The Bruins once again topped their opponent in total yards, collecting 479.

Defense: The Bruins’ defense was tested, but they did not break. UCLA had two crucial interceptions which changed the momentum in the game and had a game-saving 4th down stop as USC was driving downfield in scoring position.

Special Teams: JJ Molson nailed two important field goals in the 4th quarter, twice extending UCLA’s lead and ultimately giving UCLA the 34-27 win.

The Bad

Offense: I have to say, I’m having a hard time finding in bad production from the Bruins on offense. It definitely did not come from the run ga,e The passing game was decent. Let me think about that for a second…

Defense: If anything, you have to hand it to USC’s JT Daniels (who should be a high school senior right now) as he burned UCLA for 337 passing yards. The pass defense has been a weakness this season and the Bruins were again exposed.

Special Teams: That punt block that was returned for a touchdown was a hard “no bueno”.

The Bruins

Offense: Joshua Kelley. By a mile. He ran all over the Trojans for 289 yards and two touchdowns, backed behind a 61-yard run and a 55-yard touchdown run. He averaged 7.0 yards per attempt. His 289 yards is the most by a Bruin against USC and is third all-time in UCLA football history, cementing him as a “Trojan Slayer”.

Defense: Krys Barnes continues to have a season of progress as he recorded 11 total tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 pass breakups.
