Today, 7’2 freshman Moses Brown was named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list which honors the best center in the nation. It is something for a player to be named to one of these award watch lists, it is another for a freshman, who has not yet played a minute of college ball, to be named to one of these prestigious lists. That tells you that Brown is a special player that should make a huge impact for the Bruins this season.
Brown comes in with a lot of skill which will be needed to replace the double-double machine that was Thomas Welsh. Though the Bruins will miss the outside-shooting 7-footer, they are getting a banger down low.
Brown’s size and length make him a monster under the rim. Not only does he a have a knack for grabbing rebounds (which will help to replace Welsh, last year’s leading rebounder), but he is very adept to scoring with authority in the low post.
In a season where head coach Steve Alford has to win, he is very lucky to have the talented Mr. Brown on his side. Congratulations, Moses!
