Before all that, we start off with a few side notes in the Go Joe Bruin Headlines as we look at what shape the UCLA basketball team is in after it was announced that Alex Olesinski will be out for the start of the season and Shareef O’Neal will miss 2018-19 completely with a heart condition.

After that, we get into our deep discussion about UCLA football who fell at the hands of Colorado, but it was not all bad. With this game, we had to look at the two halves. The first half was full of hope, wonder, amazement, and optimism. It was the best half of football UCLA put together all season long.

The second half took that all away.

Though the Bruins made some strides, their youth and inexperience showed as Colorado took UCLA to the woodshed after halftime. The Bruins had their first second-half lead of the season early in the third quarter, 16-14, but the Buffs retaliated with 24 unanswered points. We discuss why and how this happened and if it will be a pattern for the Bruins moving forward.

Speaking of moving forward, we look at the upcoming game with Washington, one of the best teams in the nation. Though we believe it will be a loss, we give our expectations for the Bruins as they continue to improve under Chip Kelly.
