What’s Bruin Show (178) – UCLA football’s fall and an interview with Sooners
In episode 178 of ‘What’s Bruin Show’, Mike and Jake recap UCLA football’s loss to Cincinnati, go over listener feedback and talk Oklahoma with the Sooner Football Fan Podcast.
In this latest episode, hosts Jake and I had to move things around due to a change in schedule. This is Part 1 of a two-part episode in which we take a look at UCLA football‘s loss to Cincinnati and preview their next game against Oklahoma.

We start out by talking about whatever it is we saw the Bruins do against Cincinnati. In a lackluster effort against a team that they were two-touchdown favorites against, UCLA lost 26-17.

The Bruins had trouble getting their offense going, despite hearing about how fast they were as they were apparently pushing the pace in practice.
That is not exactly what we saw on Saturday as UCLA came out considerably slower and had trouble moving the ball downfield. Jake and I analyze why that was from the youth movement to change in scheme to bad play calling. It is a process, but one that will take time.
We then look to the defense which played slightly better than the offense. We have been hearing that they have been changing to a more aggressive scheme and we saw a lot of that on Saturday. The D also has a lot to work on, but they were pretty impressive as they were able to get into the backfield and disrupt Cincinnati’s offense.
Unfortunately, this was a loss and the Bruin faithful had something to say about it. We comment on both Twitter feedback and a few calls we received. Some good, some… interesting.
We then finish up with a great interview with Terry and Rob of Sooner Football Fan Podcast as we discuss what we might see this Saturday in Norman. It is not a pretty preview, but the conversation was great!
