UCLA Football Recruiting: WR Kain Medrano commits to the Bruins
The UCLA football team landed another commitment on Wednesday as 3-star wide receiver Kain Medrano (East/Pueblo, CO) has committed to the Bruins.
Just remember, “trust the process”. That is the mantra UCLA football fans should keep in mind as Chip Kelly puts together his 2019 recruiting class.

Though it is taking time for his group of 2019 commits to take shape, it is, in fact, taking shape. That shape added another key component to the class on Wednesday as 3-star WR Kain Medrano committed to UCLA.

Medrano is the seventh player to commit to the 2019 class, which is full of 3-star recruits (per 247Sports), but do not let that dissuade you. Just because Kelly isn’t bringing in 4 and 5-star caliber players does not mean that this class is underachieving.
Kelly has a plan and each one of his recruits have been brought in because they fit his system.
So how does Medrano fit in? First off, at 6-4, 205 lbs., he is the long and fast player Kelly is looking for. His versatility allowed him to make big plays on both offense and defense in high school, though he should see time solely on the offensive side of the ball.
As a receiver, his speed can be a bit deceiving. Though he does not look incredibly fast, he has the uncanny ability to separate from his defenders. He has no problem getting out in front of the opposition and has the ability to outrun those in pursuit of him.
Medrano also has good route running skills. He can go for the long ball or can duck underneath coverage for 5-10 yard inside routes. Add to that his sure hands and that makes him quite the notable weapon for Kelly’s offense.
And if that wasn’t enough, Medrano’s height and size makes him a matchup nightmare for defenders. Not only can he get the good angles to receive balls, but he has no problem going over the heads of said defenders and bringing in the reception.

Though some might not think so, this is going to be a very exciting class. Welcome to Westwood, Kain!
