With the 23rd pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers have selected UCLA basketball’s dynamic point guard, Aaron Holiday.

It seems as though the Indiana Pacers really like the UCLA basketball team. During the 2017 NBA Draft, the Pacers took both TJ Leaf and Ike Anigbogu.

In 2018, they continued to stock pile Bruins as Aaron Holiday was their first selection in the draft, taking the energetic point guard 23rd overall. This is going to be very good for Indiana.

We cannot stop raving about Holiday. For the last three years he has had been a workhorse for UCLA. After starting in his freshman year, he gracefully took a back seat to Lonzo Ball as a sophomore. After the Ball bounced out of Westwood, the Bruins were Holiday’s to command and lead into he future.

More from Go Joe Bruin

This past season, the junior Holiday took the team on his back and lead them to a top 3 finish in the Pac-12. He led the charge in wins against Kentucky, Arizona and USC. And even though the Bruins were going through trouble that affected the entire team, Holiday never wavered as he kept his poise and stood tall in every game he played.

His efforts were not just felt among the Bruins, they were felt throughout the Pac-12 Conference. Holiday led all scorers, even the #1 overall pick DeAndre Ayton, with 20.3 points per game. He even added 5.8 assists per game, second in the Pac-12.

Holiday’s selection has also become a family affair as the former Bruin joins his brothers Jrue (UCLA) and Justin Holiday (Washington) as professional basketball players. Talk about some killer family genes.

Holiday will not only bring energy and activity to the Pacers, but he will be able to learn and grow from yet another former UCLA Bruin, Darren Collison. The former Ben Howland product is the current starting point guard for the Pacers, so not only will Holiday receive tutelage from a seasoned NBA veteran, but with Leaf and Anigbogu in the mix, he brings chemistry to the team.
