UCLA Basketball: Two Bruins win another NBA Championship
With the NBA Finals once again going to the Golden State Warriors, former UCLA basketball players Kevon Looney and Bob Meyers have earned another championship ring.
It is all over and it was not even close. The Golden State Warriors have taken down the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 4-game sweep. Golden State also claims back-to-back titles against Cleveland, and has won three out of the last four against the Cavs.

This championship also further decorates two former UCLA basketball players who have won another banner in the Bay. Golden State General Manager Bob Myers and forward Kevon Looney are once again NBA Champs!
A lot of the credit for these three championships goes to Meyers who has brilliantly constructed the most dominant team in the modern era. With their unique uptempo, outside shooting style, the Warriors have revolutionized the game of basketball.

But Meyers is no stranger to winning championships. Back when he attended UCLA, the Bruins captured the 1995 title under head coach Jim Harrick. It was the first and only championship for UCLA since John Wooden miraculously won 10 from 1964-1975.
Though Looney was not as successful at UCLA, he was one of the more important Bruins on the 2014-15 squad, scoring 11.6 points and grabbing 9.2 rebounds per game. Though he is a role player in Steve Kerr’s system, the Warriors have been able to rely on him more and more as his playing time has increased in each of the three years he has been in Oakland.
Both continue to add to the many Bruins who have found success at the next level, but will they be able to keep it up? The rumor is that Cleveland’s LeBron James is eyeing the Los Angeles Lakers, where former Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton is leading the charge. If the King and Paul George make it out west this offseason, things will get a lot harder for Golden State.
But until then, congratulations to Meyers, Looney and the Golden State franchise!
