What’s Bruin Show (167) – UCLA Football talk with Pac-12’s Yogi Roth

In episode 167 of the ‘What’s Bruin Show’, we have another big time guest as Pac-12 analyst Yogi Roth joins us to talk about UCLA football, the spring game, the NFL Draft and the upcoming season.

In this episode, I fly solo. Han Solo (you’ll get the joke when you listen). Either way, it did not deter me as I got to chat with Yogi Roth of the Pac-12 Network as we discuss UCLA football.

We start the discussion with a look at the transition from the Jim Mora to the Chip Kelly era. Things did not go well in the last two years for the former coach and the new guy looks to make major improvements. Roth tells us what we could expect based on Kelly’s past experiences and how he can evolve his revolutionary offense.

We then examine UCLA football’s spring game, which Roth called on the Pac-12 Network. If you haven’t seen it yet and have access to it, I recommend giving it a watch as he gives a ton of insight on everything from positional depth to the strengths of the incoming freshmen.

With that in mind, we also look at the roster Kelly is inheriting. Has the cupboard been left bare or will is there enough on this team to make it work?

Looking to the future, Roth discusses how long it might be until UCLA fans starting seeing results on the field. With Kelly’s genius, it could be sooner than you think.

Roth and I then transition to the NFL Draft as he gives his takes on Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold and a few surprises coming out of the Pac-12 Conference.

We then finish the interview with some projections about Pac-12 football this fall. Who will emerge from the North and the South divisions? It might surprise you.

After the interview, I follow up with a breakdown of UCLA’s 2018 NFL Draft experience and look at those that were selected and those UDFAs who were able to sign with pro teams.

I then finish up with a look at the many UCLA teams that are aiming to make a splash in the post-season. Spoiler alert, Bruins are kicking ass.
