UCLA Football: Baltimore picks a 2nd Bruin, explosive WR Jordan Lasley

The Baltimore Ravens look like they really admire the Blue and Gold as they select their second UCLA football players as WR Jordan Lasley is heading east with Kenny Young.

The UCLA Football team had their fifth player taken in the 2018 NFL Draft as WR Jordan Lasley got the call by the Baltimore Ravens. He is the second player to be taken by Baltimore who selected linebacker Kenny Young with the 112nd overall pick in the 4th round.

Lasley follows fellow Bruins QB Josh Rosen (Arizona, Rd 1), OT Kolton Miller (Oakland Rd 1), C Scott Quessenberry (Los Angeles Chargers, Rd 5) and Young to the NFL.

The explosive receiver was part of UCLA’s passing game that made massive improvements last season under offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch. Behind Top 10 pick Rosen and his cast of athletic receivers, which included Lasley, the Bruins had the 4th best passing offense in the nation with 344.5 yards per game.

Lasley was the main contributor to the receiving game as he contributed 1,264 yards on 69 receptions, averaging 18.3 yards per catch and 140.4 yards per game, both of which were first on the team. He also added 9 touchdowns (2nd on UCLA) to his resume.

This is a both good and bad considering the injuries to the receiving group and the fact he only played in nine games.

Unfortunately, Lasley missing four games was not due to injury, but rather disciplinary reasons. Lasley has had some trouble staying on the field and in the good graces of his coaches while at UCLA.

Still, when he was able to participate and hang onto the ball, he was one of the most explosive playmakers on the field. Lasley has good jump off the line, has great speed, can separate from his defender and has the ability to catch the ball in traffic.
