UCLA is currently at the top of the Pac-12 standings, just above Arizona and Washington. So far it seems this conference is anyone’s for the taking as everyone is once again beating up in each other, so the Bruins have to make the most of their advantages, especially at home.

Player to Watch:

Thomas Welsh – He was quiet against Utah, so don’t expect the sameness thing against Colorado. Look for him to get his 11th double-double of the season.

Gyorgy Goloman – GG has also been a factor, but needs to stay out of foul trouble and bring in rebounds, especially when Welsh is shooting from outside.

Last Word:

The Colorado Buffaloes can run over teams, and they can also lose steam. After slaying the Arizona schools at home last weekend (and then prematurely puffing out their chest when head coach Tad Boyle stated that it was good to beat Arizona and USC because both were linked to the FBI investigation), the Buffaloes promptly got smacked around by the Trojans.

More from Go Joe Bruin

Colorado has a good team, but it seems they should focus on the game and not the misfortunes of others. That is why they will be a dangerous opponent for the Bruins to play tonight.  One player they have to keep their eye one is King who is one of Colorado’s deadlier players. The Bruins are going to have to play tough defense when he has the ball and disallow him access to open lanes and shots.

Overall, the Bruins’ defense has improved, but it has to be consistent. If the Bruins take a big lead, they cannot back off. With what has happened this season with Michigan, South Dakota and Stanford, lets hoped the Bruins have learned their lesson about taking their foot off the gas.

And finally, what is Holiday going to do? He has been fantastic in conference play, leading the league in scoring in the last five games with 23.8 points per game. If the Bruins are falling behind, expect Holiday to jump start them, even if it requires a bit of time.

Overall, the Bruins have been playing well and with shooting continuing to be a strength, the Bruins should be able to handle Colorado, even if they have to counter a few Buffalo runs.
