Player to Watch:

Aaron Holiday – In conference play, Holiday is averaging 24.8 points and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Watch for him to have another 20+ performance.

Last Word:

Utah is a very well coached and disciplined team, but they have had a tough start to the conference season. The Utes handled things in their first weekend, sweeping the Oregon schools on the road (no easy task in the Pac-12), but last weekend, they got swept themselves by the Arizona schools. What makes it even worse is that both losses came at home.

If Utah wants to get back on the winning track, they are going to have to do it on this trip against UCLA (and then USC) and that is going to be very difficult.

As they are in most seasons, UCLA is pretty tough to beat at home. The Bruins are 8-1 in Pauley this year, with their lone loss coming at the hands of the tough Cincinnati Bearcats. Utah is not like Cincinnati, but if the Bruins take the Utes for granted, they are going to get smacked in the mouth.

UCLA is going to have to limit the Utah big men, which might be the biggest advantage the Utes have. UCLA does not have a strong front court game, so they are going to have to find a way to limit points in the paint.

Another thing to look for is how both teams do late in the game with free throws. This season, UCLA is an abysmal 69.8% from the line while Utah is much better at 78.5%. Hopefully this does not come down to free throws or we could see a repeat of the Stanford game.
