The UCLA football team with be without Josh Rosen to start the Chip Kelly era as the golden armed quarterback has decided to forego his final season of eligibility and declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

It is official. Josh Rosen will enter the NFL Draft and leave the UCLA football team after three seasons.

Since Day 1, Rosen has been nothing short of impressive. In his first season, he lead the Bruins to an 8-5 record. Unfortunately it ended with a tough loss to Nebraska in the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl. Though UCLA, as a team, was not as successful as hoped (the Bruins went 17-13 in games he started), Rosen did put on a show overtime he put on that blue and gold helmet.

Rosen totaled 9,301 yards and 59 touchdowns in his career. This past season, he threw for 3,756 yards, beating out Brett Hundley‘s 2012 performance of 3,740 yards, now making him the record holder for most passing yards in a season. Rosen is third all-time in UCLA passing yards, just behind Hundly and Cade McNown.

The legacy of Rosen will tell the tale of the strong-armed QB that possesses pinpoint accuracy, but many would question his outspoken demeanor. Rosen often ruffled feathers and had a lot of negative labels placed upon him, but it did not matter to the people that meant the most, his team.

With Rosen leaving, the top candidates for the starting quarterback job will be juniors Devon Monster, Matt Lynch and committed 4-star QB out of Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas, Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Rosen was a true leader and beloved with his squad. Surely his team, and the entire Bruin fanbase, are going to miss Rosen. Good luck in the NFL!
