Players to Watch:
Prince Ali – The redshirt sophomore is having a bit of a coming-out party since he was inserted into the starting lineup a few games back (replacing the injured Jaylen Hands) and has given the Bruins quality minutes and become an emerging scoring threat.
Last Word
Montana is not going to be a pushover, which is why the Bruins need to once again start the game with some fire. The Bruins have been prone to slow starts, but they proved in their last game against Detroit Mercy that they can deliver some early punches. In that game, UCLA twice broke the season-high for points in a half with 52 in the first and 54 in the second. Keep that up and they will have no problem.
Montana has two players, Rorie and Oguin, that will produce the majority of the offense. UCLA needs to limit their shots and force Montana to go to other players. Even better, UCLA needs to focus on the transition game and push the ball up court. If UCLA can outrun Montana, this could be over by halftime.
Oh yeah, and put a hand in every Montana player’s face when they attempt a three-point shot. UCLA is 8th in the Pac-12 in three-point field goals allowed with .362.
