UCLA Football vs. California 2017: Halftime Report

The UCLA Football team threw their weight around in the first half agaisnt Cal as WR Jordan Lasley continued to impress.

The UCLA Football team embarked on their first game post-Jim Mora and it started a bit sloppy. Very similar to the Jim Mora era.

Their first two drives did not go past midfield and were forced to punt. Luckily, Cal did not come out of the gates on fire either. Their first drive ended in a missed field goal.

They made up for it two drives later when the ball finally made it through the uprights for the first score of the game when Matt Anderson made a 32-yard field goal.

The Bruins responded with a beautiful drive on their next possession as they went 75-yards for the touchdown. Theo Howard made a beautiful falling grab on the right side of the endzone to put the Bruins up 7-3.

Cal responded with another field goal after the start of the second quarter.

UCLA wanted in on the kicking game as JJ Molson extended UCLA’s lead on the next drive.

After stifling the Bears on the next possession, the Bruins marched down the field for another touchedown. Jordan Lasley had two receptions for 33 and 17 yards at the end con the drive, with the latter giving UCLA another score and the 17-6 lead.

Cal managed to score once again, but only by way of field goal. Their third of the night made it 17-9 in favor of UCLA and that’s how the half ended.

Rosen had a tough time connecting with his receivers at times as he was pressured all half long. Still, even with Bears in his face, he was able to connect on 13/18 for 202 yards with two touchdowns, albeit with three sacks.
