This season, Josh Rosen has looked every bit the potential #1 draft pick. He’s been torching his opponents for 45 points a game while picking apart defenses with surgical precision. But a quarterback is only as good as his receivers. Luckily for Rosen, he’s has a great one in Darren Andrews.

On September 3, the UCLA Football team had a game for the ages. By now we all know the story. Down 41-10 in the third quarter, Josh Rosen and Co. orchestrated the second largest comeback in college football history. The miracle was completed by Rosen hitting Jordan Lasley with a perfect pass in the corner of the end zone.

But also on that night, many people across the nation were introduced to UCLA wide receiver Darren Andrews. In that game, he had 12 catches for 142 yards with two touchdowns. This game solidified him as one of Rosen’s most trusted targets.

Even in the loss to Memphis, Andrews continued his success with 175 yards on 10 catches.

So far in four games, the senior wide receiver is putting up career numbers. He already has 457 receiving yards on 32 catches and seven touchdowns.

Coming into this weekend, those seven TDs were leading the nation. If he is able to keep up these numbers, Andrews will have over 90 catches, more than 1,300 yards, and 21 touchdowns. Those would be all-time UCLA numbers in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns in a season. Realistically, those numbers are attainable, especially the way Rosen has been throwing the ball.

And to think that none of this could have happened and we could have instead been watching Andrews Friday night catching balls for Duke.

In 2012, Andrews originally committed to Duke. The three star receiver out of Bishop Amat High School (CA) then changed his mind and on November 18th of that same year, committed to being a Bruin.

Luckily for UCLA, Andrews decided to stay in southern California and has emerged a favorite target for Rosen (along with Caleb Wilson). Hopefully, he can keep up his numbers for the rest of the season, not only for the Bruins’ benefit but to increase his stock in next year’s NFL Draft.
