In episode 141 of the What’s Bruin Show, we take a look at the UCLA Football team’s dismantling of Hawaii, though it was not without its drama, which affects their next game at Memphis.

In the latest episode, hosts Bill Shirley, Jake Merrifield and I take a look at the UCLA Football game after their beatdown of Hawaii, 56-23. There were many storylines to this game and we get opinionated on all them.

There were two controversial plays that went against the Bruins: (1) the targeting non-call on LB Kenny Young and (2) the jump-to-conclusions targeting call on LB Josh Woods. Though the Pac-12 came out and said that they were wrong in the Young call, it is still a huge embarrassment for the Conference of Champion’s officiating crew and we dig into them.

But it was not all valleys as QB Josh Rosen threw a few peaks in the form of 5 touchdowns.  We’ve been talking about how good Rosen is been all off-season and now he’s proving that. Because of this, the offense is firing on all cylinders and looks to do some more damage as the season progresses.

And with that we also preview the Memphis game. It’s going to be hot, it’s going to be sticky and it’s going to be at 9 a.m. PT.

UCLA has an interesting test ahead of them as they play in Memphis team that has only played one game this season. Last week their game was canceled due to hurricane Irma, so there really isn’t a lot to go on in regards to scouting this team. Either way, UCLA is going to have to tighten up the run game and disallow yards through the air.
