The UCLA Football program continues to strengthen it’s secondary with a commitment from four star CB Olaijah Griffin.

If anyone on the UCLA Football staff is in need of a pay raise it is DB coach Demetrice Martin. So far the stud recruiter has snagged a number of young talented players to add to his unit and today he added another.

Four star CB Olaijah Griffin out of Mission Viejo,  verbally committed to the Bruins today bringing their current standing to 18 total commits with four of them being defensive backs for the 2018 class.

What does Griffin bring to the UCLA Football table?

Griffin is a long corner with very good speed and another gear that lets him make up ground in a hurry. He has very quick feet and exceptional ball skills. He has the eyes and awareness to play in zone coverage but has the tools and coverage ability of a man corner. Despite his thin frame he’s a willing run defender and doesn’t shy away from contact.

Griffin isn’t the only one in his family that performs well under the lights. He is also the son of famous west coast rapper Warren G who has performed with Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and Nate Dogg. The Bruins have had mixed results when it comes to the sons of famous rappers but Griffin is more talented than either of them and looks to have a much more promising UCLA Football career.

Griffin is thin. While he can get away with playing in the 185 pound range in high school he will need to add some bulk to his frame. The good news about that is that he looks like he could easily add another 10-15 pounds.

The Bruins are going to be in a transition period over the next few seasons in the secondary as they stand to lose a number of starters to the NFL or graduation. Clearly the UCLA Football program will be in capable hands with all the talent they’re recruiting.
