With the UCLA Athletic department preparing for their switch over to Under Armor, this diehard fan of Adidas says good bye to the apparel provider that has always been their for me.

Dear Adidas,

How are you? I know things are little weird right now, with UCLA Athletics breaking up with you and all, but I hope you are doing okay.

I know it is a tough time. It is not easy losing out on a partnership with one of the most recognizable athletic departments in the country, one that you helped to brand in the last few decades.

It is awkward, no doubt about it, especially since it came down to money. Under Armour is coming in and giving UCLA the biggest apparel deal in college sports history.

Though you were in the running, I was hoping the higher ups at UCLA would stick with you, for consistency mostly, but it was not meant to be. And it does not mean I have to like it.

I have been a fan of Adidas ever since I was a child. Run DMC helped out a bit because they looked super cool being decked out completely in Adidas gear. It is the image that stands out more than anything.

Since my childhood, I have amassed a wardrobe full of Adidas (specifically UCLA) apparel that rivals the Adidas Originals store on Melrose. There is just something about the 3 Stripes that is both trendsetting and fascinating.

And sure, there were a few hiccups. Many UCLA fans did not like how the shoulder stripes became a V-neck, how some of the alternate units were designed and let us not forget about Zubaz. Actually, let us completely forget about Zubaz. Do not ever mention Zubaz again!

Still, you made some really interesting sports apparel for UCLA Athletics and made the fan base look ultra-cool in the process. For that, I thank you.

Here is a video that fully embodies how I feel:

Though this is the end, it is not for me. I might purchase apparel from the new distributor, but I will always represent the 3 stripes.

Love, this guy!
