With the second pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers have selected UCLA Basketball point guard Lonzo Ball to help lead them into the future.

BOOM! There really is no other word as the prophecy has come to fruition: UCLA Basketball’s Lonzo Ball is officially part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ organization.

With the #2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Lakers used their lottery pick to select one of the most talented (if not THE most talented) players to come out of college.

Though there has been some serious hype surrounding Ball since he left high school, he proven that he has the talent to back it up.

More from Go Joe Bruin

Last season, he helped turn a 15-17 UCLA Basketball squad into a 31-5 contender that returned the Bruins to the Sweet 16.

In his only year at UCLA, Ball scored 14.6 points per game, 7.6 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals.  Ball’s assists per game was the most in Division I basketball.

The selection of Ball will help the Lakers on a few levels. Not only does Lonzo bring a lot of talent that should improve the overall production of the L.A., including his skills as a distributor, but his “star power” seems to fit right in with the Hollywood lifestyle, with or without his father’s presence.

There was a lot of speculation about Ball going to the Lakers and now it has happened. Lakers’ execs Magic Johnson and Jeanie Buss have selected a player who has the skills and looks to only get better with time.
