After sweeping Ole Miss in dramatic fashion over the weekend, the UCLA Softball team has punched their ticket to Women’s College World Series to face LSU.

After a nail-bitting win in extra innings on Thursday night and a tense one-run affair on Friday, the UCLA Softball team made the next step in trying to win their 12th national title and UCLA’s 114th.

On Friday, UCLA had a no-hitter going through six innings. UCLA was up 4-0 when Ole Miss struck back with five runs on six hits.

The Bruins managed to tie the game in the next inning and force extra innings as the Rebels and Bruins were blanked in the 8th and 9th.

Ole Miss, who was making their first appearance in the Super Regionals, almost had their first win in that round. Unfortunately, UCLA bRuined their experience.

The UCLA Softball team was a comedy of errors in the top of the ninth. Mistakes and the Ole Miss offense gave the Rebels four hits which resulted in two runs, putting them up 7-5. UCLA was literally down to their last strike of the game in the bottom of the 10th when they scored off an RBI.

In the bottom of the 11th, they finished things off when Madeline Jelenicki hit the ball into right field which gave Zoe Shaw a chance to score from second and sealed the win.

On Friday, UCLA scored one run in the first and that was all they needed as both teams put the clamp down defensively, unfortunately for Ole Miss, their ladies could not add a run and their WCWS run was now over.
