LaVar Ball said that Lonzo Ball will be a Laker, but what if he is not? What is next for the loudmouth father and his superstar-in-the-making son?
LaVar Ball is at it again. This time he flat out said that his son, former UCLA Basketball player Lonzo Ball, will be part of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ball stated in a recent interview with ESPN, “Oh, he’s going to be a Laker, I’m going to keep talking about it until it happens.”
And we are going to have to keep hearing about it because he will be talking about it for a long time, especially if Lonzo is not selected by the Lakers.

The Lakers have a 15.6% chance (3rd best odds) of getting the #1 overall pick and a 46.9% chance of getting a top 3 pick (3rd best odds). So what if the ball does not bounce their way and they do not get the pick they want? That could mean there is a chance Lonzo does not become a Laker.

Though I believe Lakers’ management will do what they can to work a deal to get the multi-dimensional player (if that is their goal), but if Ball is selected by another team, there is nothing L.A., Lonzo or his brash father LaVar can do if this non-Lakers team selects Ball. And that probably means we will not hear the end of it.
Will LaVar and Lonzo refuse to go with a team that is not L.A., similar to Eli Manning’s tantrum about not going to the San Diego Chargers?
Will LaVar keep a negative outlook the entire first season Lonzo plays? Will he criticize management openly?
Mostly likely. And that is the issue with making all these outlandish statements. Remember, UCLA was suppose to win an NCAA Championship. When the Bruins didn’t, that did not reflect well on LaVar and his projections.
The end result is that LaVar is going to talk and he is going to ruffle feather when he doesn’t like how things are going and that will not be good for Lonzo. But you have heard this before. This is LaVar’s weak point which he does not seem to notice. If he angers the wrong person, especially if that person is Lonzo’s employer, that will hurt Lonzo’s career.

Unfortuantely that does not seem to be a care for someone that believes he knows it all. “I know me better than you do, I know my boys better than they do.”
