The UCLA Football team had their Spring Game on Saturday with the White Team winning 17-10, but the real winners were the Bruin defenses.
One thing is apparent, the UCLA Football team continues to have a tough, stout defense as the respective groups dominated on both White and Blue Teams.
Though the offenses were not playing to their full potential, there were still a lot of issues with the offensive production.
The offenses looked very similar. The coachs could have divided up the teams anyway they wanted and we still would have seen the same (and often stale) drives.

There were a lot of passes to the line of scrimmage, short runs up the middle, stops behind the line and the occasional (and still too many) dropped balls.

That speaks volumes about the defense which was all over the field. The defensive line often pushed through their offensive counterparts, the linebackers pounced on every player that came their way and the DBs were like hawks as they swarmed on passes.
The fact that the defense can be split in two and still dominate is both good and bad for the overall entity that is UCLA Football.
Josh Rosen had an up and down game and could not get consistent drives going. Early in the game, he had thrown an interception to Adarius Pickett. He made up for it with a touchdown pass to Darren Andrews right before the half.
The best play pf the game went to Bolu Olorunfunmi who sealed the win for the White Team when he ran for a 46-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The highlights were good, but they were few and far between.
Basically, to breakdown the offense… they looked like they did last year.as for the defense, they could be better than last year.
On a positive note, Giovanni Gentosi was awarded a scholarship at halftime of the Spring Game and was subsequently mobbed by his teammates.
So as stated above, the Spring Game, which brought a bit more excitement than recent years, ended with a victory by the White Team which prompted a small celebration by Honorary Head Coach Miss Val.
