UCLA Football Spring Practice Day 2: It’s OC Jedd Fisch’s Way or the Highway
The media got their first up-close-and-personal post-practice conference with new Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch who is bringing a no-nonsense attitude to the Bruins’ offense.
After the offense failed to click over on the Kennedy Polamalu ride last season, there seems to be more urgency and accountability with UCLA Football‘s new Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch.
The new OC has to rework and rebuild the entire offensive engine that was second to last in rushing in the nation last season. He has all the parts for an effective machine, but he first has to see how they all fit together.
Today, Fisch met with the media after the second day of practice to talk about his offense. Truth be told, he left us with more questions than answers. And maybe that is a good thing. The video below comes via

Fisch seemed very non-commital on the specifics of his offense, and kept things open-ended with what he is running. He was also very honest and assertive with what he has seen and plans to do with his offense.
Fisch started by truthfully answering questions about the differences between last season’s offense and this season’s he stated he has not seen film.

In regards to his players, Fisch said that, though the rotation was varied at certain spots last season, he wants to play the players that he believes have earned it.
That doesn’t mean he will limit other players, but Fisch said that he wants to see what guys can do what the offense requires.
The overall attitude of Fisch feels like he is a coach that will have things done his way, or else. WR Darren Andrews confirmed this when asked about Fisch, “You do it his way or its the highway”.
When asked about Josh Rosen, Fisch said he was impressed and that the junior is a “great passer”. Additionally, Fisch said that he was impressed with the other QBs, Matt Lynch, Devon Modster and freshman Austin Burton.

Though we will not exactly know what Fisch plans, it is good to see that he is already taking a stance on what kind of coach he wants to be and offense he wants to run. And judging by the reactions of a few of the players, it seems like it will pay off.
