The UCLA Women’s Basketball team have defeated both Arizona schools to end the regular season and head into the post-season with a lot of momentum.

What a way to end the regular season… by sweeping the Arizona schools on the road. Sure you know about what the men did, but the UCLA Women’s Basketball (22-7, 13-5) team had a drubbing and a shocker of their own.

On Friday, the Bruins went into Tucson and rolled over the Arizona Wildcats, 79-56, which was topped off by a 21-point performance Nicole Kornet.

Not only did the Bruins keep their hopes alive for a first round bye in the Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, but it was also their 10th consecutive win over the Wildcats.

Things got a bit tougher on Sunday when the Bruins head north to Tempe to face the #23 Arizona State Sun Devils.

Both the Bruins and Sun Devils were trading blows, which led to an ASU 32-27 lead at halftime. Unfortunately for them, the Bruins were not showing any signs of quitting.

It was Kornet, Paulina Hersler and Jordan Canada who made a push in the final quarter for a Bruins slim 55-52 victory on the road to finish the season.

Though a loss would not have affected UCLA’s placement in the Pac-12 Tournament, this win gives them momentum heading into March Madness which begins this week as the Pac-12 Tournament starts this Thursday up in Seattle.
