UCLA Football: Bruins Not in Top 25 of Newest Rivals Recruiting Class Rankings

A slow start to the 2017 recruiting cycle has the UCLA Football team at #47 of the newest class rankings by Rivals.

It has been that kind of year for the UCLA Football team. Not only did they end their 2016 season with a 4-8 record, but they are having a slow start to the 2017 recruiting cycle.

That is evident with the newest recruiting class rankings that were released by Rivals.com.

The Top 25 teams are as expected, with some variety, but UCLA is currently no where near that. The top spots are held by teams you would expect to be there: #1 Alabama, #2 Ohio State, #3 Oklahoma, #4 Georgia and #5 Texas A&M.

As for the Pac-12, the teams that are ranked higher than UCLA are: #15 Arizona, #16 Washington, #17 Colorado, # 20 USC, #43 Oregon and #45 Cal.

This may seem bad, especially since UCLA has landed recruiting classes in Rivals’ Top 20 every year Head Coach Jim Mora has been in Westwood, but do not take anything at face value just yet. A lot of things can change between now and National Signing Day on Wednesday, February 1.

The one advantage the UCLA coaching staff has to ending their season early is the extra time to go out and recruit. In the last two weeks, Bruin coaches have been hosting official visits and conducting in-homes to several top targets.

As of now, the Bruins only have 10 players committed to the 2017 class, but more is expected, especially with several current commits doing some recruiting of their own.
