UCLA Football: With Kennedy Polamalu Gone, Who Is Next?

On Sunday, UCLA Football Offensive Coordinator Kennedy Polamalu was relieved of his duties one day after the Bruins’ final game of 2016. Who will be next?

The Kennedy Polamalu era of UCLA Football is over. The power football experiment has now gone the way of the dodo bird and UCLA now has to find their next offensive mastermind for 2017.

Head Coach Jim Mora wasted no time in making changes to his football team after the Bruins went 4-8 with one of the worst offensive productions in the Pac-12 this season. As far as the offensive coordinator spot, Mora is already going in a different direction.

But that brings up questions about who else might not be returning to the Bruins in 2017. On the defensive side, everything looks safe. Tom Bradley’s crew was one of the few bright spots for the Bruins this season.

If any more changes are to be made, they will most likely be made on the offensive side of the ball and special teams.

The first name that comes to mind is offensive line coach Adrian Klemm. Not only has the production of his group been abysmal all season, but his recruiting has suffered due to incurring violations which he has already been suspended for. His illegal actions cost UCLA $5000 as well as puts a 2-year show cause label on Klemm. Now it is possible he could  have survived the show cause at UCLA, but after the lack of production from his group this year, it would not be a surprise if he was next to go.

The receivers caused Bruin fans to scratch their heads all season long. Drop balls were a plague this season and the development of a few Bruins did not seem to come to fruition as it should have. Because of this, it could cause receivers coach Eric Yarber to lose his position on the team

The other coaching position that needs some attention is special teams. It is doubtful that Mora will fire special teams coach Scott White, as he is also the linebackers coach and did a pretty decent job of that this year. But after the Bruins production went into a nosedive towards the end of the season, will he be relieved of his duties?

Either way, the Bruins need to correct a lot of mistakes from this 4-8 season. UCLA needs to find out what will be the best direction for them and do everything they can to make that a reality because if there is another year like this one, Mora might not be around to make any more changes after next season.
