UCLA Basketball: The Bruins Are The Best Scoring Team In The Nation

After four games, the UCLA Basketball team is the top scoring team in the nation and it does not look like they are slowing down.

Here is a stat for you: 105.8 points per game. That is what the UCLA Basketball team is putting up in this early part of the 2016-17 season.

With the addition of freshman Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf, the Bruins, who have only lost center Tony Parker from last season, are playing some of the best basketball in years.

Ball has been the distributor the Bruins have needed to bring this offense together. UCLA has some talent, but now everything has been clicking.

Leaf is the Bruins’ top scorer among six who are averaging double-digits. Aside from collecting two double-doubles this season (he was also one rebound away from three), Leaf is averaging 20.3 points per game and 10.0 rebounds.

Senior Bryce Alford is second in scoring with 18.8 points and is mastering the 3-point shot as he has a team-best .583 from behind the arc.

The other senior, Isaac Hamilton has been quiet among all the hoopla, but is still managing to get the third-best scoring average on the team with 17.3 ppg. Aaron Holiday, who is playing some very good ball coming off the bench is collecting 14.5 while Thomas Welsh is at an even 10.0.

Ball himself, is all over the place. He is scoring 16.3 ppg, most of which are coming off of showtime dunks, but is also adding 9.0 rebounds per game and the team’s third-best rebounding average with 6.3.

So you see, there is a lot of balling going on in Westwood and though it has come from lesser competition, UCLA is rolling. It will be interesting to see how they match up against better teams, but for now, as long as they keep improving their chemistry, it looks like they will have a solid run this season.
