UCLA Basketball has taken the top spot in Scout’s 2017 recruiting class rankings after the Bruins landed 5-star Kris Wilkes.

The UCLA Basketball team is back on top — at least in the recruiting rankings — after they landed 5-star small forward Kris Wilkes (Indianapolis, IN/North Central HS).

Wilkes’ commitment to UCLA gives the Bruins a star-studded 2017 class, one in which UCLA has landed players for all five positions.

Here is the class as of now: 5* PG Jaylen Hands, 3* SG LiAngelo Ball, 5* SF Wilkes, 4* PF Cody Riley and 4* C Jalen Hill.

That is good enough for the top spot on Scout.com’s top 2017 classes. Just this past week, the four other commits made their pledge to UCLA official as Hands, Ball, Riley and Hill all signed their National Letter of Intent.

More from Go Joe Bruin

UCLA Basketball Head Coach Steve Alford has exponentially improved recruiting in the last few years. This season we are seeing the benefits of that as Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf are playing big roles in their uptempo offense. Along with Ike Anigbogu, the Bruins landed a Top 5 2016 class. That trend is definitely continuing into the future. Go Bruins!
