Today marks the 5 year anniversary of Go Joe Bruin and it is all because of you UCLA fans!
On October 17, 2011, FanSided went live with their newest college sports site, Go Joe Bruin. In the growing world of online media, Go Joe Bruin was started with the intention of covering UCLA sports. So far, I think we have done a good job of covering UCLA Football, UCLA Basketball and various other sports.
Five years ago, the site’s first editor Derek Hart wrote An Introductory Bruin Hello From Me. In it he spoke of his experiences as a Bruin and gave a little bit of UCLA sports history. It was a spirited stepping stone which I like to think I have built off of.
In five years, Go Joe Bruin has published over 3,500 articles. We have had several talented and knowledgable writers contribute to the site and which has helped it become a recognizable brand. It has been awesome!

I know when I took over nearly three years ago, I just wanted to write about Bruin sports. My first article was the 5 Keys to the Game for UCLA Football against Arizona State in 2013. UCLA lost at home, missing out on a trip to the Pac-12 Championship Game. Ah, memories.
Still, the focus of Go Joe Bruin, for me, was to inform and entertain. There are other places to go to for Bruin sports news, so I wanted GJB to bring a little bit more.
We wanted to get the fan perspective (no matter how much the outcomes of games hurt) even if it might be a bit biased. That’s ok, its why we write. We love our Bruins!
So thank you, the reader, very much for helping GJB to grow. It has been five great years and hope to bring you five more and beyond. Go Bruins!
