A former UCLA Football commit, DL Cassius Peat, has re-committed to the Bruins after a long, circuitous journey.

One UCLA Football recruit found out that you can come home again on Sunday night as former Bruin commit Cassius Peat re-committed to UCLA following a long, winding journey that took him across the country and finally back to Westwood.

Peat, a defensive lineman from Arizona who was originally a 3-star recruit in the class of 2015, was committed to UCLA for a few months in the time leading up to Signing Day 2015 but flipped to Michigan State.

Peat left a void that the Bruins couldn’t scramble and fill, which is a huge reason why they only signed one defensive lineman, Rick Wade, in the 2015 class.

However, Peat recently left Michigan State and enrolled at Pima Community College in Arizona, which prompted Defensive Line Coach Angus McClure and the Bruins to reach out once more to gauge his interest in becoming a Bruin again.

Peat was very receptive and after an unofficial visit to the Los Angeles area for UCLA’s matchup against Stanford this past Saturday, Peat decided UCLA was where he belonged all along and committed to the Bruins.

At 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, Peat is a big defensive end who is still growing and, based on his genes, will likely end up as a defensive tackle down the road.

He is the son of former NFL defensive tackle

Todd Peat

and the brother of highly recruited defensive tackle

Todd Peat Jr.

and former

Stanford

and current NFL offensive lineman

Andrus Peat

, all of whom tip the scales at over 300 pounds, so the genes are there for Peat to be a crucial part of UCLA’s defensive line rotation going forward.
