The UCLA Football team landed another commitment today as Oregon native and 3-star offensive tackle Jaxson Kirkland gave his pledge to the Bruins today.

Just when it looked like the UCLA Football recruiting process was hitting a bit of a lull, the Bruins collected their fourth commitment since the start of August as 3-star OT Jaxson Kirkland (Jesuit HS/Portland, OR) has committed to the Bruins.

With this commitment, the UCLA Football team now has seven players committed to the 2017 recruiting class. Kirkland is also the third offensive lineman to commit after 3-star players Kanan Ray and Ronald Rudd III gave their pledge to play for the blue and gold.

At 6’7″, 305 lbs., Kirkland is the type of player the Bruins are looking for in their offensive linemen going forward. With the UCLA offense moving to power formations, the use of bigger and more aggressive linemen will be crucial.

So does Kirkland have the talent as well as the body? You bet.

Kirkland is quite agile for a player of his size. He can not only seek out a block (and is not shy about heading to the open field to do it), but has the strength to open up holes in the line as well as protect the run.

Aside from holding down his position, he has the ability to push opposing players backwards, which will be a real asset in the Bruin’s new offense. With his talents, it is easy to see why he is one of the top offensive tackles in Oregon.
