In our second of three discussions with college football analyst Mark Rogers about the UCLA Football defense, Go Joe Bruin examines the linebacking corps.

What would life after Myles Jack be for the UCLA Football program? Unfortunately the Bruins found out way too early in the 2015 season as Jack injured his knee just after three games.

Though the Bruins had to make some serious adjustments mid-season, the upside is that UCLA Football fans got to see the emergence of several young Bruins. Even though certain aspects of the defensive side of the ball suffered with the astonishing amount of injuries (like the run defense which placed UCLA 8th in the Pac-12), the Bruins received several surprises from a few of their linebackers.

No one expected the likes of Jayon Brown and Isaako Savaiinaea to lead the defense after Jack went down, but it happened. What this also did was give the Bruins some much needed experience which will help them thrive in 2016.

In recent years, UCLA has become known as the new “Linebacker U”. This is apparent from the array of talent from former LBs like Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks and Jack. But what does LBU hold for the future?

I was able to talk with college football analyst

Mark Rogers

about what we should expect from the Bruin linebackers this season, especially with a few youngsters that Bruin fans should keep an eye on. One in particular could be a clone of Jack as freshman

Mique Juarez

looks to make an impact as a potential stater.
