Go Joe Bruin takes a look into the world of UCLA sports as several Bruin teams are on the path to a National Championship.

If you are as big of a UCLA fan as I am, you likely wonder how we are doing in sports all the time.

Well, I have already done all the work to give you the latest on how the UCLA Bruins are doing so far:

Baseball (22-22 overall, 10-11 conference)

The Bruins defeated the Anteaters to tie the series against Irvine 1-1. UCLA will have an opportunity to win the series at Jackie Robinson Stadium today at 1:00 p.m. PT.  By the way, there will be yoga after the game.

Beach Volleyball (#4, 22-7 overall)

The Bruins fell to the #1 Florida State Seminoles 3-1 on May 8.  FSU will play #2 USC in the NCAA Championship game.

Men’s Golf

The Bruins finished 8th in the Pac-12 championship.  The team will make their next appearance at the NCAA Regionals on May 16 in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Women’s Golf

On May 7, Junior Bronte Law was a co-medalist at the NCAA Regionals, while the team finished third to advance to the NCAA Championships.  The Bruins will see action again on May 20, marking their 16th-straight appearance to the Championships.

Gymnastics

UCLA finished 5th at the NCAA Championships on April 16th. The team also finished the season with a balance beam title by Danusia Francis and a Pac-12 team title. The Bruins made national headlines this year when Sophina DeJesus added Hip Hop moves to her routine, leading to an appearance on the Ellen Show.

Rowing (#20)

The Bruins closed the regular season with a loss against crosstown rival #12 USC. Up next, the Bruins will participate in the Pac-12 Championships in Lake Natoma (Gold River, CA) on May 15.

Softball (#13, 35-13-1 overall, 16-5-1 conference)

The Bruins were looking to sweep Utah after winning two of the three games in the series, but the third game was cancelled on Mother’s Day due to heavy rains.  The NCAA Regionals will kick off on May 20.

Men’s Tennis (#2, 22-2 overall, 7-0 conference)

The Bruins won the Pac-12 title with a 4-1 win over #16 California on April 23.  The team will host Weber State on May 13 for the NCAA First Round.

Women’s Tennis (#23, 14-6 overall, 6-3 conference)

The Bruins saw mixed results in the Pac-12 Championships after winning in doubles but losing in singles.  The team will be playing Notre Dame in Columbus, OH for the NCAA First Round on May 13.
